Comparison Between MHC and Antibody Evolution

The main process of divergence of MHC molecules is intralocus polymorphism, but interlocus polymorphism is more important in immunoglobulin evolution. Although MHC molecules and immunoglobulins diverged differently, there are mutual features between these two systems. For instance, both of these two systems were evolved by deletion, combination events of gene duplication, and translocation with selection and point mutation (6).
